Becoming U: Resources for the Creatives

Becoming U is for anyone who, like me, has all sorts of doubts and fears from time to time about their ability to handle stress.  And, if you aren't careful, that  fear becomes a real roadblock to success. In Becoming U we look at resources available in dealing with those fears. 


We  offer  "time out" moments for you to incorporate because taking care of YOU is too often overlooked. As you probably are experiencing, stress is not an uncommon companion of poor sleeping, eating, exercising, and even social habits. 


In Becoming U you will find mind-body practices to help you deal with stress.  Yoga, breathing, meditation and other holistic tools can be very helpful for calming your nerves. Give them a try! 


And then jump over to THE GATHERING TABLE to see how you can get involved with your neighbors, your community, friends and family.

Finding Balance

As a creative, it's not unusual for us to occasionally have strange sleeping patterns, forget about exercising, drinking enough water, eating the right foods - taking good care of ourselves. We also tend to forget the effect that can have on our bodies overall. And all of this can be just as true for anyone who is experiencing stress, anxiety in their lives. I know firsthand how hard it is to find balance. I can promise you though, if you practice these 3 things on a regular basis, it should help.*


Breathing, Relaxing, and Stretching are 3 tools I've used in helping folks find balance. This section of the site offers you techniques to consider folding into your daily activities.

Box Breathing is a deep breathing technique that can help lower blood pressure, help you deal with stress and anxiety, and various pains. Be sure to check with your doctor before trying any new exercise like these breathing exercises.

It's just as important to find a few minutes to be still.... be quiet.... especially when the body or the mind have been stressed either through a workout or an emotional situation. And it's just as nice, too, to take a break for no reason at all - just to be kind to yourself. Let Charlotte give you that 15-minute break. Rest back.... Enjoy!
